Court halts the Nigerian billionaire bid from taking over English Top Club

Court halts Mmobuosi Sheffield takeover bid

Nigerian billionaire, Dozy Mmobuosi, proposed Sheffield United takeover bid has suffered a major setback over an outstanding County Court judgments against him in the UK for £30,109 for failure to pay his rent on a property in St Albans, Hertfordshire.

According to inside world football, Mmobuosi who is the founder of Tingo Inc. has been in talks to buy the club in a deal expected to reach €90m. However, there have been a few bottlenecks.

The 43-year-old entrepreneur incurred the debt between April and December 2020 despite repeated attempts to recover the money by the landlord’s agents and subsequently bailiffs once the court judgment was issued in April 2021.

Mmobuosi has said in the past that he will pay the debt but has yet to fulfil his promises but says he has enough personal wealth to complete a £90m takeover deal for Sheffield United.

The Nigerian technology entrepreneur is closing in on the takeover of the English Football League side and is currently undergoing the EFL’s owner’s and director’s tests.

It is understood that the review of Mmobuosi is ongoing by the EFL and that none of the approvals required for him to take ownership of the club has yet been granted.

Mmobuosi is confident is still confident about completing the €90m takeover of the Sheffield.

“It is my money. And I have actually made a deposit,” Mmobuosi revealed during the interview in London, Mmobuosi told  CNN  in an interview.

“I would expect myself and the club to issue a joint statement you know that would have details concerning how much, but I have made a deposit and that shows my seriousness for a start,” he said.

Mmobuosi did not give details of how much of a deposit he has put down for the club.

His unpaid debt for rent in St Albans meanwhile remains unpaid.

“If we suspend disbelief for the moment, Mr Mmobuosi may simply have let the County Court judgement slip from his mind,” said Paul Andrew, owner of the property in St Albans.

“That seems very difficult to comprehend given that he was distressed about the impact on his family of these persistent attempts to resolve the county court judgement.

“At the very least he needs to explain his amazing philanthropic principles against this background of what appears to have been lies and deception… I concluded long ago that he never intended to settle this debt.”

Man sue police officer for failing to impregnate his wife.

Man Hires Neighbor To Get Wife Pregnant, Takes Him To Court For Failing To Impregnate Her After 75 Attempts

Darius Makambako 30, with his wife Precious 28, really wanted to have a child, but a renowned doctor had told the couple that the husband was sterile. The couple was tired of being in a 6 year childless marriage.

So Makambako, a member of the Tanzanian Police Force (Traffic Department), after calming his wife’s protests, hired his neighbour Evans Mastano 32, a fellow police officer in the country’s commercial city, to impregnate his wife.

Since Evans was already married and the father of two beautiful daughters, plus looked very much like Darius to the boot, the plan seemed good.

Makambako paid Mastano 2,000,000 Tanzanian Shillings (equivalent to K10,000) for the job and for three evenings a week, for 10 consecutive months in 2016.

Evans tried desperately, a total 75 different times, to impregnate his friend’s wife Precious, but failed.

Reports say Precious, a nurse at a private clinic, had decided to get a three months’ vacation leave (March to June 2016), to dedicate her time to sleeping with her husband’s best friend and neighbour, in order to have her first child, but the man failed to impregnate her, despite the husband leaving them in bed the whole day, at most times.

When Precious failed to get pregnant for 10 months however, Makambako could not understand and insisted that Evans have a medical examination, which he did in January 2017.

The doctor’s pronouncement that Evans Mastano was also sterile, shocked everyone, except his wife, who was forced to confess that Evans was not the real father of her two children, but his cousin Edward!

“I was forced to secretly sleep with his first cousin for these two children, after realising that my husband could not impregnate me for two years.” Angela told the Dar-es-Salaam Today News.

Now Makamboko is suing Evans for breach of contract, in an effort to get his money back, but Evans refuses to give it back, because he says he did not guarantee conception, but only that he would give it an honest effort.

Romeo and Juliet’ Stars Sue Paramount for Child Abuse Over Nude Scene in 1968 Film

Olivia Hussey and Leonard Whiting were just teenagers when they electrified audiences in the 1968 version of “Romeo and Juliet,” directed by Franco Zeffirelli. The film was a hit and was nominated for four Academy Awards, but it also stirred controversy over a bedroom scene which included images of Whiting’s buttocks and Hussey’s bare breasts.

Now in their 70s, Hussey and Whiting filed a lawsuit in Santa Monica Superior Court on Friday, accusing Paramount of sexually exploiting them and distributing nude images of adolescent children.

The suit alleges that Zeffirelli — who died in 2019 — assured both actors that there would be no nudity in the film, and that they would wear flesh-colored undergarments in the bedroom scene. But in the final days of filming, the director allegedly implored them to perform in the nude with body makeup, “or the Picture would fail.”

Hussey was 15 at the time and Whiting was 16. According to the complaint, Zeffirelli showed them where the camera would be positioned, and assured them that no nudity would be photographed or released in the film. The suit alleges that he was being dishonest and that Whiting and Hussey were in fact filmed nude without their knowledge.

“What they were told and what went on were two different things,” said Tony Marinozzi, who is a business manager for both actors. “They trusted Franco. At 16, as actors, they took his lead that he would not violate that trust they had. Franco was their friend, and frankly, at 16, what do they do? There are no options. There was no #MeToo.”

According to the complaint, Hussey and Whiting have suffered mental anguish and emotional distress in the 55 years since the film’s release, and have also lost out on job opportunities. Despite their breakout performances, Hussey and Whiting had only very limited acting careers after “Romeo and Juliet.”

They are seeking damages “believed to be in excess of $500 million.”

“Nude images of minors are unlawful and shouldn’t be exhibited,” said the actors’ attorney, Solomon Gresen, in an interview. “These were very young naive children in the ’60s who had no understanding of what was about to hit them. All of a sudden they were famous at a level they never expected, and in addition they were violated in a way they didn’t know how to deal with.”

The lawsuit relies in part on a California law that temporarily suspended the statute of limitations for older claims of child sexual abuse. The courts saw an influx of complaints against the Boy Scouts of America and the Catholic Church, among other organizations, in the days leading up to the Dec. 31 deadline.

Paramount did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

In a 2018 interview with Variety, Hussey defended the nude scene.

“Nobody my age had done that before,” she said, adding that Zeffirelli shot it tastefully. “It was needed for the film.”

In another 2018 interview with Fox News, she said that the scene was “taboo” in America, but that nudity was already common in European films at the time.

“It wasn’t that big of a deal,” she said. “And Leonard wasn’t shy at all! In the middle of shooting, I just completely forgot I didn’t have clothes on.”

Nottingham Forest Set To Offload Striker 5 Months After £20M

English Premier League club Nottingham Forest is prepared to offload Nigerian international Emmanuel Dennis who joined last summer. The Super Eagles forward joined the Premier League returnees for an agreed fee of about £20million.

Emmanuel Dennis was impressive for Watford during the 2021/2022 season netting 10 goals and also creating six assists, but it could not help the club which eventually got relegated.

His move to Forest has not been of much impact as he only managed to start three games so far this season, scoring just one goal.

Complete Sports reports that the club manager Steve Cooper is prepared to bolster his squad in January, but they must first offload some players. It was gathered that Dennis is one of the players they are looking to allow to leave before the end of the winter transfer window. The Nigerian will then have an option of moving abroad, but if he wants to remain in England, he would only be eligible to return to Watford.

Real Madrid Hands Mbappe 1 Condition to Restart Transfer Negotiations

Real Madrid have not fully given up their pursuit to sign Kylian Mbappe from Paris Saint-Germain, following the Frenchman’s superb showing at the 2022 FIFA World Cup. Mbappe, who turned down an opportunity to join Real Madrid previously, is seemingly unhappy at PSG and is itching for a move away from the French champions, despite only penning a lucrative three-year deal last summer

According to Madrid Universal, Real Madrid are open to restarting the negotiations with PSG for the Frenchman - if the player personally hands his club a transfer request.

The La Liga champions have no intention to replicate the month-long transfer saga from the summer, when the attacker changed his mind at the last minute to stay with PSG.

Mbappe’s current deal with the Parisians is set to expire in 2025 and the French champions are expected to place a huge transfer fee on the French forward, estimated to be over a €100million.

The 2022 World Cup golden ball winner turned down an opportunity to sign for Los Blancos last summer, but the Spanish giants re-ignited interest in the 24-year-old after his World Cup heroics. However, Real Madrid are now considering sacrificing their push to sign Mbappe so they could instead bring in two young prospects.

Chelsea Transfer update

We are three days into the January transfer window and the Blues' winter business is fully underway. Deals for Benoit Badiashile and David Datro Fofana have already been completed and Enzo Fernandez continues to be heavily pursued.

A number of players continue to be linked, including the likes of Rafael Leao, Joao Felix and Jude Bellingham. It's expected to be one of the busiest windows at Stamford Bridge this month and Todd Boehly's cheque book is set to see a similar expenditure as the summer.

While the recruitment team in west London lay out their plans for the winter window, Chelsea's calendar has a number of difficult tests, starting on Thursday evening against Manchester City. Graham Potter welcomes Pep Guardiola's men in the first of two contests against the title chasers.

With that said, keep the blog on lock as we bring you all the latest transfer news.

Chelsea duo Reece James and N'Golo Kante appear to be edging closer to returning to fitness.

Manchester United legend Gary Neville has criticised Chelsea for their proposed move to sign Benfica midfielder Enzo Fernandez, singling out the hefty price tag that has been reported.

Writing on social media, Neville said: "Are Chelsea paying €127m for Enzo Fernandez? That's one hell of a price. A very good player but bloody hell!"
